Describe yourself in six words or less:
LinkedIn Consultant, YouTuber, Small Business Champion

Tell us about your business and what inspired you to start it:
I started my business to create my own path. With three small children and an employer who told me I’d hit the ceiling unless I returned to full-time work, I knew I wanted more. My first business was selling craft supplies online, but while it didn’t make much money, it led me to help small businesses with social media.

Since then, my business has evolved. We now focus on B2B marketing through LinkedIn, video, and increasingly, YouTube. We work with clients who want to raise their visibility online but lack the time, knowledge, or inclination to do it themselves.

I love making challenging tasks easier for others. With our video package, for instance, all my clients need to do is show up for a one-hour call each month. We handle the rest. Clients are always surprised by how easy it is—hooray!

Tell us a little bit more about you:
I’m a mum of three fabulous kids (one now an adult!), married, and I have an enthusiastic cocker spaniel who keeps me active with daily walks. I grew up in Newtownabbey, travelled the world three times, and came back to do my MSc in Computing. It’s where I met my husband on day one, as we were both lost trying to find our lectures!

We now live in Newtownabbey, within a square mile of my sisters and mum, which is amazing for family support—we're a tight bunch. I love travelling, and since the pandemic, we’ve been aiming to show the kids as much of the world as possible before they head off on their own journeys.

My career path is like that of many entrepreneurs: I’ve done a variety of jobs, from fruit-picking in Australia to IT helpdesk in London, before landing a corporate role as a software engineer and later, an IT Project Manager in the health service.

I’m also a huge music fan, especially live performances, and I’m a devoted Springsteen fan. I always have a towering pile of books to read and am even writing my own!

Female Founder Journey:
When I started my business, like many entrepreneurs, I had no idea what I was doing. I found connecting with other entrepreneurs early on to be invaluable. Local council programmes in Northern Ireland were a great help at the start, but my business really took off when I decided to invest in myself financially.

Hiring a coach has been a key driver of my success. I love mentoring and being mentored, but there’s something transformative about investing your own money into working with someone. I went through three different coaches before finding the right fit for me.

A key lesson I want to share with other women is this: find someone you trust. Listen to their podcast, read their newsletter, and see if their style resonates with you before you invest. Do your due diligence—ask for references, check for testimonials, and trust your instincts. If it doesn’t feel right, move on.

How has being part of the AwakenHub community helped your business?
I love meeting other women entrepreneurs. I joined AwakenHub to connect with women running businesses across the island. As a small business champion (through Small Business Britain), cheering on other small business owners is in my DNA! I also love the idea of women investing in other women’s businesses.

Do you have an ‘ask’ for the AwakenHub community?
I believe in referring business to each other. If you know of someone—a company, coach, or consultant—who needs help getting started on LinkedIn but doesn’t know where to begin, please feel free to direct them to me.

What are your non-negotiables as a founder?
Integrity is at the heart of my business. I trust people inherently, and honesty is vital. I believe there’s room for everyone in business, which is why one of my favourite phrases is, A Rising Tide Lifts All Boats. I’m a connector of people; if I know someone who can help, I’ll happily point them in the right direction.

Michelle Obama inspires me, especially her quote: “When they go low, we go high.” Rudyard Kipling’s poem If also holds special meaning for me, as it was displayed on my dad’s office wall throughout my childhood.

Where do you see yourself in 12 months and 5 years?
In 12 months, I expect to stay on the same track, focusing on balancing my business with my role as a mum to children who are beginning GCSEs, A-levels, and university. Maintaining a calm home is my top priority right now.

In 5 years, LinkedIn may not even exist, but I plan to grow my YouTube channel to reach a million subscribers. I want the channel to become a significant income generator, helping as many women as possible get visible online—whether they work with me directly or use my content as a resource.

Top three tips for women founders:

  1. Find a coach you resonate with—through their podcast, writing, or video content—and invest in working with them when you’re able.

  2. Take regular breaks. Step away from the laptop, get some fresh air, and ensure the business doesn’t consume you.

  3. Outsource tasks you struggle with to experts, freeing yourself up to focus on delivering the products or services people will pay for.

Six words to live by:
Get outside. Be Kind. Drink Water.
