Donegal Inspires Creative Women of the World

AwakenHub in partnership with Donegal County Council are delighted to host this event featuring the best of Donegal’s creative talent.

As part of this year's Donegal Connect event and Tip O’Neill Irish Diaspora Awards, AwakenHub in partnership with Donegal County Council are delighted to bring you an online event featuring the best of Donegal’s creative talent.

Welcome to ‘Donegal Inspires Creative Women of the World’ - we think you’ll see why when you’re introduced to our speaker line-up, which so far includes;

Moya Doherty, commissioning producer and originator of Riverdance. Currently chair of the RTE Board.

Eileen Rafferty, a film producer who has returned from London to Donegal in order to co-found The Bothy in Gaoth Dobhair.

Dr Isobel Cunningham, a former dancer who returned to full time education after spending five years touring the world with Riverdance – The Show. Isobel has a PhD entitled ‘Evolution and Formation of Entrepreneurial Founding Teams in the Video Games Industry’ and today lectures in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at ATU Donegal.

Caitriona McLaughlin, Award winning Theatre and Opera Director, Abbey Theatre Dublin.

Anne Marie Conlon is Head of Economic Development with Donegal County Council and leads a creative and dynamic team working to maximise Donegal’s potential as a great place to live, work, invest and explore.  She has also held the posts of Communications Manager and Social Inclusion Manager with the Council giving her a deep understanding and appreciation of the effective role of local government in lives of people in the county.  A business and marketing graduate, Anne Marie also holds a Msc in Innovation Management from Ulster University.

The panel will be expertly moderated by Irish-American Mary Ann Pierce, AwakenHub’s New York-based Global Diaspora Ambassador and CEO founder of MAP Digital Inc.

The event will include a short address from Donegal County Council, outlining the many reasons why Donegal is a great place to start or build a business – whether you are returning home or looking to relocate. Audience participation will be facilitated via a lively Q&A with our panel.

This event is free to attend and is likely to be particularly appealing to our Donegal Diaspora and those who currently work in the creative industries - however, all are welcome, and we look forward to having you join us for an hour-or-so to hear from our exciting and remarkable female panel.
