#FollowNoodlehorseMedia

Social Media Consultant Lyn Mutch is the brains behind Noodlehorse Media, one of the amazing women on our SheGenerate Programme and our feature #Follow for this week. We love following Noodlehorse Media’s social media (follow for tips!) and below she tells us how it all started.

To get us started - how would you describe yourself in 6 words or less?

Resourceful, adaptable, adventurous, diplomatic, empowering, sociable

What prompted you to start your business?

I wanted to build a community around a subject I'm passionate about. Teaching business owners the joy of social media rather than the burden it can be seen as. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Tell us a little bit more about you?

I live in Bangor, County Down. Prior to setting up Noodlehorse Media in October 2021, I was a Content Editor for Chain Reaction Cycles for 6 years. This is where I learnt all about social media, the importance of always exploring new technologies like live streaming and where I got to travel to some beautiful places in the world like California and Switzerland. I mountain bike regularly and enjoy getting out with a bunch of like minded women called the @ladieswhoshredNI - I'm usually the one taking all the pictures and posting to social media, even on those big days out on the bike. I came up with the name Noodlehorse Media after reading a blog post about historical names for dogs. A "Noodlehorse" was a perfect, proper name for greyhounds/ lurchers and being a houndie owner myself, I loved how quirky and fun it was. It fits my personality. I love being a cheerleader for other businesses and thinking of creative ways they could market themselves on social media. Sometimes we all get too close to our own projects and need an outsider to give some guidance, whilst still allowing a genuine tone of voice and personality to come through.

Fill us in on your female founder journey

It feels AMAZING! Moving from 12 years of being in male-dominated industries, I finally feel so empowered by surrounding myself with strong female leads. I question why I allowed my confidence to get knocked so much in recent times, when now I realise my ability and knowledge in the subject I teach is deeper than I gave myself credit for. I'm feeling energised and ready to grow and grow!

How did you hear about AwakenHub and what prompted you to apply for SheGenerate?

Vicky Newman sent me a link about it & encouraged me to apply

What are you hoping to get out of the SheGenerate process?

Confidence in business acumen, negotiation skills, financial planning and tips

What does success look like to you - in 12 months and in 5 years?

I own a studio space that is as professional as the brand I have built. I'm invited to collaborate with other creatives. I stay on top of future developments like AI and machine learning.

SheGenerate is only a small part of AwakenHub - now that you have the community's attention - what can we/they do for you?

Show your examples of “posted is better than perfect” - one of my favourite mantras when it comes to growing your social media presence and confidence. Post on Insta and tag me @noodlehorse_media in the comments with #FollowNoodlehorseMedia and I will give you lots of feedback and encouragement.

As a founder - what are your non-negotiables?

Leave your ego at the door. Worrying about what other's think about how you look and sound - this won't pay your bills! If you have a wealth of knowledge there are many ways to tell your story on social media. I want to help people get creative with this.
